Extract a table from a web page with the Automatio extension
Ask the extension to find and format data from your current tab into a clean table. The AI reads the page text or a screenshot and returns structured results you can copy directly to your spreadsheets.
What to ask
Type it in the Automatio side panel in Chrome, with the page open. Send it as written, or change the details to fit your case.
Read @page and extract the product comparison data into a table. I need columns for Model Name, Price, Battery Life, and Weight. Format the result as a clear table.
How it works
- 1
Open the side panel
Click the Automatio icon in your Chrome toolbar to open the panel next to the page you want to extract data from.
- 2
Identify the source
Type
@pagein the composer to send the current tab's text to the agent, or use@screenshotif the table is visual. - 3
Define the structure
Specify which columns you want and any specific formatting needs in your request to the agent.
- 4
Copy the result
Review the structured table that appears in the side panel and copy it for use in other applications.
What you get
The agent returns a formatted table within the side panel chat. It organizes the unstructured information from the web page into the specific columns and rows you requested. You should check that the values match the original site, particularly for long pages where text might have been truncated. The resulting table is ready to be copied and pasted into a spreadsheet or document.
Good to know
- The
@pagecommand extracts up to 15,000 characters of text from the current tab. - Every request sent to the agent in the side panel uses your Automatio account credits.
- The extension cannot read text from a PDF in the Chrome viewer; you must use
@screenshotfor visible PDF content. - The agent will not run on chrome:// internal pages or the Chrome Web Store.
Variations to try
Extract from a screenshot
Use @screenshot to read the data table visible on my screen and convert it into a text table with columns for Date and Amount.
Extract across multiple pages
Using the agent in My browser, visit [list of URLs] and extract the technical specifications table from each page into one summary table.
Create a reusable extraction tool
Write a tool that reads @page, finds any pricing tables, and formats them into a table with Plan and Monthly Cost columns.
Questions
Can I extract tables from pages that require a login?
Yes. Because the extension runs in your browser, it can access the text and screenshots of any page you currently have open and can see, including those behind a login.
What happens if the table is longer than the character limit?
If the page text exceeds 15,000 characters, it is cut off. To handle very long tables, you can use the agent in My browser mode, which opens its own tabs to scroll and read the entire page.
Does this cost extra credits?
There is no extra fee for the extraction itself, but every interaction with the AI agent uses the credits included in your Automatio account.
Can I export the table directly to a CSV file?
The agent provides the table in the chat panel where you can copy the text. If you need a file, you can ask the agent to generate a downloadable file from the data it extracted.
