Share a browser tool with the Automatio Chrome extension
You describe a tool for the agent to build, then generate an unlisted link to share it with your team. Recipients can install your tool and get automatic updates unless they pin a specific version.
What to ask
Type it in the Automatio side panel in Chrome, with the page open. Send it as written, or change the details to fit your case.
Build a tool that reads the @page text, extracts all [company names and their primary contact emails], and formats them into a clean table. Once you have built and tested the script, save it and provide the unlisted link so I can share it with my team.
How it works
- 1
Describe and build
Open the Automatio side panel and describe the task you want the tool to perform. The agent writes the code, runs it on the page to verify it works, and shows you the result.
- 2
Save to your account
After the agent confirms the tool works as expected, save it. Tools sync automatically to your Automatio account and are accessible from the tool strip in the side panel.
- 3
Generate a sharing link
Select the tool in your account and choose to share it. This generates an unlisted link that you can copy and send to your teammates.
- 4
Install and sync
Teammates who open the link can add the tool to their extension. They will receive any updates you make to the tool unless they choose to pin a specific version.
What you get
You will have a persistent, unlisted URL for your custom tool. When teammates follow the link, the tool appears in their own side panel tool strip immediately.
Check that the tool works for your team members on the specific sites they use. Ensure they are signed into their own Automatio accounts, as they must have the extension installed to use the shared tool.
Good to know
- The person who runs the tool is charged for the AI credits and any Automatio tool calls it makes.
- Tool code runs in a sandbox and has no network access of its own.
- A tool can call at most 50 HTTPS requests to hosts you have declared in its settings.
- Recipients must use Chrome 125 or newer, Edge, or Brave to install and run the tool.
Variations to try
Share a data scraper
Build a tool that takes a full-page screenshot of [site URL], identifies the pricing tiers, and copies the data to my clipboard. Give me the share link.
Share an API connector
Create a script tool that reads the @selection, sends it to [HTTPS API endpoint], and displays the response in a chart. Provide the unlisted sharing link.
Questions
Who pays for the credits when a tool is shared?
The person who runs the tool pays. Every time a teammate clicks the tool to run it, the cost is charged to their own Automatio account credits.
Can I stop my team from getting updates?
If you edit and save a tool, everyone with the link gets the update automatically. If a teammate needs to keep a specific version of your tool, they must pin that version in their own settings.
Is the tool link public?
The link is unlisted, meaning it is not searchable or listed in a public directory. Only the people you send the link to can see and install the tool.
