Edit WooCommerce products in bulk with Automatio for WordPress

Update your WooCommerce catalog by telling the agent which products to change. You can adjust prices, stock levels, and categories across your entire store through the REST API.

What to ask

Type it in the Automatio chat. Send it as written, or change the details to fit your case.

On my site [yoursite.com], find all products in the 'Kitchen' category. Change their stock status to 'In stock' and set a sale price that is 20% lower than their current regular price for the next seven days. Please test this on one product first and show me the result before doing the rest of the batch.

How it works

  1. 1

    Connect your store

Navigate to Integrations inside Automatio, select Apps, then WordPress, and enter your site address. You must use an HTTPS address, and your account must have administrator or editor rights.

  2. 2

    Authorize access

Log in to your WordPress site when the authorization screen appears and press Approve. Automatio will automatically generate and encrypt a fresh application password for secure communication.

  3. 3

    Enable plugin management

Locate your site in Automatio and turn on the switch Let the agent manage plugins. This permission is required for the agent to access WooCommerce product, order, and category data.

  4. 4

    Send your bulk edit request

Type your instructions in the chat, naming the site you want to edit. Specify the criteria for selecting products and the exact changes you want performed.

What you get

The agent confirms the changes by listing the products it modified and the specific fields it updated. It shows you the new values for prices, stock statuses, or categories it changed.

You should verify a few of the updated products in your WooCommerce dashboard. Because the agent uses the WordPress REST API, these changes are applied directly to your database.

Good to know

  • The 'Let the agent manage plugins' switch must be turned on to allow access to WooCommerce product routes.
  • The agent cannot permanently delete products and will only move them to the trash if requested.
  • Your site must have application passwords enabled and must not be blocked by a firewall or CDN challenge.
  • Automatio credits are consumed based on the AI usage required for the agent to process the batch.

Variations to try

Batch update stock

Find all products on [yoursite.com] with a current stock level of less than 3 and change their status to 'Out of stock'.

Categorize products by title

Look through all products on [yoursite.com] that have the word 'Organic' in the title and add them to the 'Eco-Friendly' category.

Bulk sale pricing

For every product in the 'Winter Collection' on [yoursite.com], set a sale price of 45.00 and schedule the sale to start at midnight tonight.

Questions

Do I need to install a special plugin?

No plugin is required. Automatio connects to the built-in WordPress REST API using core application passwords available since version 5.6.

Can the agent see my WooCommerce secret keys?

No. Any secrets or sensitive keys stored by WooCommerce or other plugins are shown as [hidden] to the agent to protect your security.

What if I want to undo a bulk change?

The agent typically returns the previous values after making an edit. You can ask it to use those values to revert the products to their former state.

Why is the WooCommerce access failing?

Ensure the 'Let the agent manage plugins' switch is on for that specific site in Automatio. If it is off, the agent is restricted from accessing third-party plugin data like WooCommerce.
