Upload images to the WordPress media library with Automatio
You ask the agent to upload files from public links directly to your WordPress site. It handles the transfer, applies your metadata, and can link the media to your content.
What to ask
Type it in the Automatio chat. Send it as written, or change the details to fit your case.
Go to my site [site name] and upload the image at https://example.com/photo.jpg. Set the alt text to 'Professional camera on tripod' and make it the featured image for my draft post about photography basics.
How it works
- 1
Connect your WordPress site
In Automatio, go to Integrations, select Apps, and choose WordPress. Enter your site's address and approve the connection in the WordPress screen that appears.
- 2
Provide a public file link
Send an https link for the image, audio, video, or PDF you want to upload. The file must be publicly accessible so the agent can fetch it.
- 3
Specify metadata and placement
Tell the agent what alt text or title to set for the media. You can also ask it to set the file as the featured image for a specific post or page.
What you get
The agent confirms when the upload is complete and provides the details of the new media item. You should check your WordPress Media Library to verify the file is present and that the alt text and title match your instructions. If you asked to set a featured image, open the relevant post to confirm the image is assigned correctly.
Automatio replaces its initial connection password with a fresh one for security. You can manage or revoke this access at any time through your WordPress user profile.
Good to know
- Each file must be 10 MB or smaller.
- SVG file uploads are not supported.
- The agent requires a direct https link to fetch the file.
- Generating new images and the agent's processing time use Automatio credits.
Variations to try
Upload a PDF document
Upload the PDF located at https://example.com/manual.pdf to my site [site name] and set the title to 'User Manual 2024'.
Bulk upload with alt text
Upload these three images: [link 1], [link 2], and [link 3]. For each one, set the alt text to 'Summer collection' followed by a brief description of what is in the photo.
Upload video to library
Add the video at https://example.com/demo.mp4 to my WordPress media library and set the title to 'Product Demo Video'.
Questions
Do I need to install a plugin?
No plugin is required. Automatio uses the WordPress REST API and core application passwords to manage your media library directly.
Can I upload files from my own computer?
The agent cannot access local files on your machine. You must provide an https link to a file hosted online for the agent to download it to your site.
What happens if my site uses a security plugin?
Security plugins like Wordfence or Solid Security can sometimes block REST API access or application passwords. You may need to adjust those settings for the connection to work.
How much does it cost?
The WordPress tools themselves are free. The work performed by the AI agent uses your account's Automatio credits, and generating images via AI has its own credit cost.
