Moderate WordPress comments with Automatio
Ask the AI to review your pending comments and it will sort them into approved, spam, or trash categories. You receive a report of the actions taken on your WordPress site.
What to ask
Type it in the Automatio chat. Send it as written, or change the details to fit your case.
Go to my site [your site address] and check all pending comments. Approve the ones that look like genuine questions or praise from readers. Mark the ones that are clearly bot-generated or trying to sell services as spam, and move any that are nonsense or strings of characters to the trash.
How it works
- 1
Connect your WordPress site
In Automatio, go to
Integrations, selectApps, thenWordPress, and type in your site's address. - 2
Authorize the connection
Sign in to your WordPress dashboard when the authorization screen appears and press
Approveto connect without a plugin. - 3
Instruct the agent
In the chat, name the site you want to manage and ask the agent to moderate the comments using your specific rules.
- 4
Verify the changes
The agent uses the REST API to update comment statuses and confirms the work is finished once the moderation is complete.
What you get
The agent provides a list of the comments it processed. It shows which ones were approved and which ones it sorted into spam or trash. You should check the Spam and Trash folders in your WordPress dashboard to verify the AI's judgment on borderline cases.
Good to know
- Permanent deletion of comments is refused.
- The site must use HTTPS and have application passwords enabled to connect.
- This feature is untested on WordPress multisite.
- Moderating comments uses your account's Automatio credits.
Variations to try
Keyword spam removal
Review the pending comments on my site [address] and mark anything that looks like a bot trying to sell something as spam.
Approve post comments
Check the comments for my post about [topic] and approve all of them that are genuine questions.
Questions
Does it permanently delete comments?
No, the agent can only move comments to the trash or mark them as spam. It refuses any request for permanent deletion to prevent accidental data loss.
Is my site password safe?
Automatio replaces the initial application password with a fresh one and revokes the first. It is stored encrypted so the AI agent never sees it, and you can revoke it anytime in your WordPress profile.
Does it work with security plugins?
Security plugins like Wordfence or Solid Security can block the connection if they disable application passwords. You must ensure application passwords are available for the agent to function.
How does the AI identify spam?
The model you chose uses its own judgment based on the content of the comment. You can specify rules in your prompt, such as trashing comments that are too short or marking comments with commercial links as spam.
