Add Automatio's MCP server to Claude Code

Connect Automatio's MCP server to Claude Code to give your CLI agent live web access. You'll be able to search the web, read site content as markdown, and fetch crypto data during your coding sessions.

What to ask

Type it in your AI app once Automatio is connected. Send it as written, or change the details to fit your case.

Use your web tools to find the current documentation for [library name] at [URL] and explain how to implement the authentication flow in my project.

How it works

  1. 1

    Register the server

Run the command claude mcp add --transport http automatio https://automatio.ai/api/v1/mcp in your terminal to register the endpoint with Claude Code.

  2. 2

    Authenticate your account

Run claude mcp login automatio to open a browser window, sign in to your account, and choose your daily credit limit to authorize the connection.

  3. 3

Use an API key for more tools

To access YouTube or X tools, add the server using the header flag: claude mcp add --transport http automatio https://automatio.ai/api/v1/mcp --header "Authorization: Bearer <key>".

  4. 4

    Confirm the connection

In any Claude Code session, run /mcp to see the list of active tools and verify that the automatio tools are ready for use.

What you get

Claude Code will acknowledge the new tools. When you ask it to browse the web or check data, it calls the Automatio server and prints the results, such as page text or search snippets, directly in the terminal.

The tool response includes the number of credits used for the call. You should verify that the returned markdown or search snippets contain the specific data you need before asking the model to process it further.

Good to know

  • Each tool call is paid for using your Automatio credit balance and reports its cost in the response.
  • Sign-in connections are restricted to search, page reading, screenshots, and crypto price tools.
  • The server has a 60-second execution limit for every tool call.
  • Usage is capped at 60 MCP messages per minute per connection.

Variations to try

Search and summary

Search the web for recent changes to the [tech stack] API and summarize how they affect my current code.

Visual site check

Take a full page screenshot of [URL] in dark mode and give me the link so I can check the layout.

Market data check

Get the current market data for the top 5 coins by market cap and list their 24h volume.

Questions

What does it cost to use these tools?

Connecting and listing tools costs nothing beyond your AI's usage. Every successful tool call is paid from your Automatio credits, such as 1 credit for a search or page read, and 3 credits for crypto prices.

Can Claude Code see my private Automatio data?

No. The MCP server is stateless and only gives the app access to the specific tools you authorized. It cannot see your private chats, files, or other saved API keys.

How do I change my daily credit limit?

A sign-in connection's limit cannot be changed once it is set. To choose a different limit, you must revoke the connection under Integrations in your Automatio dashboard and connect it again.

Does this work for a specific project?

You can add the --scope project flag to the setup command to write the configuration to a .mcp.json file in your current repository instead of your global config.
