Email a weekly summary of a Google Sheet with Automatio
You can set up an agent to read your spreadsheet data every week and email a summary to yourself or your team. The agent proposes a plan in the chat that you can review and activate to run automatically.
What to ask
Type it in the Automatio chat. Send it as written, or change the details to fit your case.
Every Friday at 4 PM, read the last 50 rows of [link to your sheet] and email a summary of the sales activity to [email address]. Include the total revenue and the name of the top-performing agent from the summary.
How it works
- 1
Connect Google apps
In Automatio, go to Integrations and then Apps. Select the
Google Drive & Sheetstile to sign in, and ensure Gmail is also connected. - 2
Request the automation
Type your request in the chat, naming the spreadsheet link, the specific day and time, and the email address for the summary.
- 3
Review the plan
The agent will propose a schedule and a credit budget. It creates the automation in a paused state so you can check the details first.
- 4
Resume the schedule
Go to the Automations page in the sidebar and press
Resumeto start the weekly runs. You can also ask the agent to resume it in the chat.
What you get
The agent will generate a report in your chat every Friday to confirm the run was completed. You will receive an email containing the summarized data based on the rows it read from the sheet. Check the first few emails to ensure the AI summary includes all the specific columns or metrics you requested. You can manage the status of this task from the Automations page in the sidebar at any time.
Good to know
- Automations are created in a paused state and only run after you press Resume on the Automations page.
- Scheduled runs are skipped if your credit balance falls below 1,000 credits.
- Each email sent costs 1 credit in addition to the AI's own usage costs.
- Runs must be scheduled at least 5 minutes apart.
Variations to try
Daily status summary
Every morning at 8 AM, read the 'Inventory' tab of [sheet link] and email a summary of items with low stock to [email address].
Weekly performance digest
Every Monday, read the range A1:E100 in [sheet link] and email a weekly summary of project deadlines to the team at [email address].
Questions
How do I stop the weekly emails?
You can go to the Automations page in the sidebar and press Pause on the specific task. You can also ask the agent in the chat to pause the automation for you.
Can I see if an automation failed?
Yes, each run posts a report into the chat where you originally created the automation. You can check these reports to see the status and if any errors occurred during the reading or emailing process.
Is my spreadsheet data kept private?
Automatio follows the Google API Services User Data Policy and does not use your data to train AI models. If you are not using a Google model, Gemini reads the raw sheet data first and provides a summary for the other model to use.
