Moderate a Discord server with Automatio for Discord
Ask your agent to manage your community by kicking, banning, or timing out members. You review every action before it happens to maintain full control over your server.
What to ask
Type it in the Automatio chat. Send it as written, or change the details to fit your case.
Look at the recent messages in the [channel name] channel. The user [username] is being aggressive and ignoring the rules. Kick them from the server and post a message to the #mod-logs channel about it.
How it works
- 1
Add the bot to your server
Visit Automatio to add the bot to a server where you have Manage Server permissions. This links the server to your account.
- 2
Set permissions
Ensure the bot has permissions for Kick, Ban, Timeout, and View Channels. The bot cannot act on anyone with a role at or above its own.
- 3
Send the moderation request
Type your request in the web chat at automatio.ai to tell your agent which member needs moderation and why.
- 4
Approve the action
The bot will prepare the action and wait for you to press the Approve button. It will only proceed once you click it.
What you get
The agent identifies the member and the reason for the action. It presents a confirmation in the chat with a button to proceed. Once you click Approve, the bot performs the kick, ban, or timeout in Discord and confirms the result in the chat.
You should check that the user being moderated is the correct one before clicking Approve. The bot will also report if it lacks the necessary role hierarchy to perform the action.
Good to know
- Moderation actions like kicking, banning, and timing out always wait for you to press Approve before they run.
- The bot cannot act on any user who has a role at or above the bot's own role in the Discord hierarchy.
- It cannot edit or delete messages sent by other people in the server.
- The server owner pays a small amount of credits for each reply and each check the agent performs.
Variations to try
Time out a user
Time out [username] for 24 hours for spamming the #announcements channel.
Ban a member
Ban [username] for repeated rule violations and create an invite for a new moderator to join the server.
Change channel permissions
Remove the permission for the [role name] role to send messages in the #rules channel.
Questions
Can I automate moderation so it happens without my approval?
No. By default, only creating a channel, invite, or event runs at once. Every moderation action like kicking or banning requires the owner to manually press Approve.
Can my moderators use these commands too?
The owner can name a team of moderators who are allowed to ask for a fixed list of server changes. These actions still require the owner to click Approve before they take effect.
Why did the bot fail to kick a member?
The bot can only moderate members who have a lower role than its own. If the member has a higher or equal role, or if the bot is missing the Kick Members permission, the action will fail.
Does the bot store the messages it reads while moderating?
The bot reads the recent messages of a channel to understand the context when it answers, but it does not store them. Only models that do not train on your prompts are used to answer members.
