Chats
Files, follow-ups, stopping the agent, spending limits, temporary chats and sharing.
Sending files
Attach a file with the paperclip, drag it into the chat, or paste it. Very long pasted text becomes an attachment by itself.
The agent accepts images, text and code files, archives, fonts, audio, video and 3D models. PDFs are offered when the model you picked can read files. See Limits for sizes.
While the agent is working
Follow-ups. Send a message at any time. It waits as Queued, and the agent reads it at its next step.
Stopping. Press Stop the agent, the square button beside Send. Stopping also clears any queued follow-ups.
Continuing. One run has a step limit (see Limits). When it stops there, type "continue" and it goes on.
Setting a spending limit
Click the ring icon to the right of the message box, type an amount under Spending limit, and press Set limit. You type dollars, and the limit is kept in credits at your own price, so it is an approximate amount. When the chat reaches it, the agent stops and tells you, and you can raise or remove the limit to go on. Published apps keep running.
A chat with a limit also carries on by itself when a run reaches its step limit, as long as it is making progress and has work left. It stops if it goes too long without you.
A chat without tools
The agent panel is in the chat composer: the first button at the left end of the row below the message box, left of the model picker. It opens a panel with the "Tools" switch and, with tools on, the "Memory" switch and the tabs "Tools", "Skills" and "MCP". Turn the Tools switch off and that chat becomes a plain conversation with the model you picked, with no web, email, files, memory or skills. The choice is saved for that chat.
Temporary chats
Before the first message, press the dashed speech bubble in the top bar. A temporary chat is not in your history, is not remembered, and is deleted after a day without activity.
To hold on to one, press Keep chat once the reply has finished. It then becomes a normal chat. A temporary chat that builds a project is kept by itself.
Several models at once
The small arrow beside New chat opens a menu with Multi-chat: one prompt, several models side by side, in chats that open as synced columns.
Finding a chat
The magnifier beside New chat searches chat titles and message text. Temporary chats are not searched.
Sharing a chat
The Share button is in the top bar of one of your chats once it has at least one message (not on a temporary chat, and hidden while the project panel is open on a wide screen); on a phone only the share icon shows. Its menu has "Public link": "Share a read-only link", which anyone who has the link can open.
A public link shows the chat as it is right now, with no account needed. Later messages stay private until you press Update to latest, or until you turn on Keep this link up to date. Search engines stay out unless you turn on Let search engines index this page. Turn off ends the link.
The agent's reasoning and values that look like credentials are left out of a public page.
Someone reading the link cannot write in your chat. Continue this conversation copies it into their own account, which needs a sign-in.
To work in one chat with other people, use Enable Real-Time Sharing in the same menu, then Add Member, by the email of someone who already has an Automatio account.
A temporary chat cannot be shared until you keep it.
